Actor Owen Wilson was rushed to hospital on Sunday after allegedly attempting suicide.

Star magazine and the National Enquirer claim the 38-year-old actor was taken to St. John's hospital in Santa Monica, Calif. by ambulance after police and paramedics responded to a 911 call from Wilson's home shortly after noon.

According to the report, a family member found Wilson with a sliced left wrist. He also allegedly took an unknown quantity of pills.

Santa Monica Police refused to provide details but confirmed that a person was transported to hospital for treatment.

Wilson was reportedly transferred to another hospital in stable condition after his wrist was sutured and bandaged.

The star is currently filming Tropic Thunder in Hawaii with Ben Stiller and has two more films lined up. His movies include You, Me and Dupree and Starsky & Hutch. Wilson's relationship with Kate Hudson ended earlier this year.

He always seems like sort of guarded in interviews. Fun but guarded. But you right, it it's true, that's really sad. I hope he gets help.

If it's true, how sad. You just never know about people. He always seems so carefree and fun.

Perhaps it's all a cover up. He didn't attempt suicide at all but is really hospitalized to get his nose fixed.

Maybe he was distraught over the break-up with Kate Hudson.

Actually the news is all over the place now. It's been on TV and it's online. I think it's legit.

Well I think so too. My two previous comments were as a result of my black humour. I actually like Owen. He "seems" a nice guy, I think he's pretty funny, I love his accent and even though he's a bit funny looking I quite like him. To attempt suicide the person must be in a terrible state of despair and I can sympathize with that.

Depression is a very cruel beast. I'm so sorry he felt this was the only way to solve his problems. :085:

Depression horrible. It can make you think and do things you never imagined.
If this report is accurate, I am sorry for Owen but I'm glad that he's getting
help now.
Did you guys see "Night at the Museum"? Owen's part was my favorite. I always
love him in movies.

A copy of the Santa Monica Police Department log posted online clears up speculation surrounding Owen Wilson's hospitalization.

Someone at Owen's 23rd Street address dialed 911 on Sunday at 12:08 p.m. and, according to the call for service report, "attempt suicide" was listed as the reason for the call. No details on who placed the call or official reason for the attempt.

Owen remains at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is listed in "good condition.
