On Tuesday September 25th, "Goin' Home: A Tribute To Fats Domino" is scheduled to be released. Some of the artists doing their take on classic Domino tunes include: Sir Elton John (Blueberry Hill), Sir Paul McCartney (I Want To Walk You Home), Tom Petty (I'm Walkin), Willie Nelson (I Hear You Knockin'), B.B. King (Goin' Home) and Neil Young (Walkin' To New Orleans).

The sales from the CD will help raise funds specifically for instruments to be donated to New Orleans public school children. The money will also go toward the rebuilding of Fats Domino's home and to create a community center in the city's Lower 9th Ward.

Wanted to give thanks to Tom for doing this for New Orleans schools and for Fats Domino. Strikes close to home for me and am excited about picking up this cd as soon as it is released. Sure it will be a tear jerker.

Isn't that a nice pic of Robert Plant and Fats?! :)
Robert is going to be on the tribute album that's coming out later this month for Fats. I can't wait!

Let's hope that Robert isn't screeching, lol.

I've heard Robert Plant and the New Orlean's based Lil' Band o' Gold and their version of Fat's Domino's "It Keeps Rainin'" a few times. Very deep and bluesy. It is lovely. Can't wait to hear the entire album. So glad Tom Petty is involved in something to help rebuild New Orleans. I wonder who plays sax for him on "I'm Walkin'"?

Art Neville presides over a sweet-natured solo "Please Don't Leave Me."

B.B. King makes the title track, "Goin' Home," his own, sculpting crisp solos over a foundation supplied by Ivan Neville's DumpstaPhunk.

I was oblivious to these facts. Had no idea until I did some searching that some of the Neville's would be on the same album as Tom Petty. :)

A great write-up on 'Goin Home':

Oh, very nice. You can hear all the songs. Wow, this is a great album. B.B. sounded great!! Lenny Kravitz sounds good, too.

Well, this was already on my list, but I think I'll get it asap. Thanks Melanie.

Tom played "I'm Walking" on Buried Treasure Monday. TPatH did a wonderful job covering this song!

Is there anybody who bought the CD? I need to know if Jeff Lynne produced or played on the song.
Thank you for your help.

^ And he did a great job. I love this song! :045:

I was sort of overwhelmed with new cds this week, but I did end up bringing this one to work. My co-workers seem to really be enjoying it too.
